“Boring. That is the one-word answer to summarize this movie. The protagonist was a weirdo and unrelatable and the pacing between scenes of interest dragged. Intentions of the main character were also questionable. Well, whatever, I enjoyed the popcorn bucket, so there's that, I guess. 6/10” read more

Justice League
2017/11/16 @Goodrich Kalamazoo 10 Theater 1, Row 4 via MoviePass Fun superhero movie. My biggest complaint with DC is that the pacing is too quick. They are like a fan writing the story and are just too excited to put every character and every story from the comics into the movie. Three of the characters in this movie just showed up, with no real build up, or development. That said, the action was good, the comedy was enjoyable, and the story decent enough.

Murder on the Orient Express
2017/11/11 @Celebration! Cinema Crossroads Theater 2, Seat C1 via MoviePass A classic murder mystery based on the novel. I had not read this one, so I was able to go in wondering who-dun-it? Good, original story.

Only the Brave
2017/10/28 @Celebration, theater 4, seat C5 via MoviePass w/ Kendra This was both really interesting and boring. The things the firefighters do was a view into the day and a life of their work. At the same time, the repetition and pacing dragged it out a bit. I enjoyed the development of the characters, starting at some pretty low places but ending as productive contributors. The friendship arc was another fun one to see. What was a bit annoying was the focus on a particular tactic they practiced, multiple times throughout the movie, that was completely ineffective and worthless once the time to use it actually arrived.

Opus Magnum
2017/10/26 Bought and finished in early access. This is a modern remake of the Flash game from 2008, the Codex of Alchemical Engineering, which was the first Zachtronics game I played and loved, so I am thrilled that it has been improved so.

The Foreigner
2017/10/14 @Celebration! Cinema Crossroads Theater 2, Row D, Seat 7 Via MoviePass The start was great, getting right through the buildup to start the the main plot of the movie. After that, it slows down a bit, with the most interesting elements happening after long breaks in between. Not terrible but not great. 7/10

Happy Death Day
2017/10/13 @Celebration! Cinema Crossroads Via MoviePass w/ Dave S. A ridiculous, fun time. Groundhog Day mixed with slasher flick. Funny, suspense, and character growth. Who could ask for more? 8/10
